Strategic Approach

There are a number of very strong trends in the ITC market that positively contribute to a successful broader market introduction of the EFIKA and Open Client including:

  • A move away from Microsoft based products, particularly in Europe, where a number of governments have mandated that Linux or OpenSolaris replace Windows for official computer use.
  • Market saturation, where the reasons to upgrade are beginning to sound increasingly shallow - why upgrade if you cannot notice the difference?
  • The growing emphasis on mobility which remains dominated by power consumption and efficiency (i.e., heat) issues as they relate to cost and use.
The EFIKA relies on development communities that governments and corporations can leverage to support their own IT infrastructures with what becomes over time a progressively valuable resource.

All media that exists can be displaced by the growing use and prominence of the Internet and a gateway to it (the platform or end-user device). Genesi believes that this is the nexus of value creation in the ITC industry for the next ten years. Our thinking:

  • There are large disenfranchised non-Internet populations due to a lack of technology and written/spoken language barriers
  • There is exceptionally fast adoption of the Internet versus traditional media
  • There is an opportunity to communicate in all the senses through a broadband connection that eliminates illiteracy as a barrier.
The EFIKA finds enormous opportunity in addressing these issues an extremely versatile and durable platform that is silent, small, inexpensive and energy efficient with no moving parts.
